#heyilovethisholiday HUG DAY (The Pope Hugs the Filipino People)

January 21 is International Hug day or Hugging day; a holiday that originates from America. Though it's not (yet) a Filipino Holiday, I still think this is worth celebrating. It was said that this holiday was created to encourage the act of hugging families and friends. A simple hug can bring enormous effects to one's being not to mention reduce stress and promote positivity.

For the past 5 days, our country was indeed hugged by someone so great and inspiring. January 15-19, 2015 was the Papal Visit to the Philippines. To me, He came at the right time. Our nation truly needs this moral boost amidst all challenges. Moreover, He came at the start of the year thus providing the necessary guidance to create positive changes for the new year.

We learned so much from the Pope's visit and the best way to express our gratitude to Him is by living out the lessons he imparted to us. I think one of the best ways to do this is to...Hug and be hugged.

Share the love and the faith through warm hugs. Collapse that solid wall of pride and fear and have someone hug you. Cry if you need to cry and let all emotions out. Those few seconds of physical contact will surprise you. Maybe in those few seconds, God can finally give you the message and the comfort you are asking and praying for.

Thank you Pope Francis for gracing us with your amazing presence. We are grateful for your time, your strength, your wisdom, and your love. We truly felt God in your presence! Your 5 days is indeed a good warm bear hug for all of us. Maraming Salamat po!

#heyilovethisholiday DRESS UP YOUR PET DAY

Source: The Southern

Who would have thought that January 14 is Dress up your Pet Day. It's an unknown holiday especially here in the Philippines but it certainly is a fun event to celebrate. It was founded by Colleen Paige, also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day.

Upon doing my online research about this fun holiday, I was able to check out Petmd's post. They came up with their Top 10 reasons to dress up your Pet. I agree with their top reason... it's an excellent day to have a Pictorial!!!

Anyway, I'd like to share some of favorite Dressed up Pet photos. I'm sure you'll be laughing and gushing over their cuteness!

7 holidays that would make you love January more

 Hello January

Hello January... a new month, a new year, and a fresh start. Our well deserved Christmas break can leave us in a holiday hangover but there's nothing to worry about because January also has some quirky holidays that we'll all be happy to know and celebrate.

1) JANUARY 7: TEMPURA DAY

Although there really is no concrete evidence pointing out to its origins, I think Tempura must really be given a day to pay tribute to its yumminess. Thank you Japan for inventing this! Subarashii!

Learn more about Tempura from http://www.punchbowl.com/holidays/national-tempura-day

2) JANUARY 13: RUBBER DUCKIE DAY

I know what you're thinking... "am I serious? "
Well... apparently, there is such a day for this cute iconic symbol made more popular because Ernie of Sesame Street. Learn more about it:   http://www.punchbowl.com/holidays/national-rubber-ducky-day

3) JANUARY 14: DRESS YOUR PET DAY

Come on... this is your chance to dress your pet like it was Halloween, hahaha! Although this is an American Holiday, I think it would be really fun if this goes big in the Philippines.

4) JANUARY 18: WINNIE THE POOH DAY

This day happens to be AA Milne's Birthday, Winnie the Pooh's author. This loveable character first appeared in 1926 with his friends: Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger.

5) JANUARY 19: POPCORN DAY

Yes there is such a day... a day to recognize our all time favorite movie snack! There's no concrete origin behind this American Holiday but most of the sources link this to the Superbowl. Read more on it from: http://www.popcorn.org/AboutUs/Media/NationalPopcornDay/tabid/115/Default.aspx

6) JANUARY 21: HUG DAY

A warm hug on a chilly January Day can really be comforting. This holiday started in 1986 to encourage people to reach out more and give hugs to family and friends. It's not YET celebrated in the Philippines but I think this is one holiday we should celebrate as it has enormous benefits to one's well-being. Learn more about its history and its ongoing activities from:  http://www.nationalhuggingday.com/

7) JANUARY 26: BUBBLE WRAP APPRECIATION DAY

Admit it, popping those bubbles can be addicting. The sound of those little pops are just therapeutic. Luckily, someone took notice and gave bubble wrap its own day. Now bring out those old bubble wraps and start popping!
