What else aside from Valentines Day and Chinese New Year?

.
Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year are over but that doesn't mean that the festivities are done for February. Here are some Holidays worth knowing and celebrating; several of them might come as a surprise but you know.... everyday is a holiday! :)

(1) February 17: WORLD HUMAN SPIRIT DAY

As a day of reflection, World Human Spirit day encourages people to reflect and connect with their spirituality. According to Giftypedia, "this holiday was started by Michael Levy of Point of Life in 2003 to promote a human spirit that lives the creative, peaceful, loving life that it was meant to live. People all over the world are encouraged to take 2 minutes of silence at 3pm Eastern Time to meditate to find the true spirit of freedom and peace that lives within each of us."

(2) February 18: DRINK WINE DAY

NOW THIS IS MY KIND OF HOLIDAY!

It may not have a concrete history or origin but there is no need to investigate. This is one fun holiday worth spending with friends, yey!

(3) February 19: CHINESE NEW YEAR

Kung Hei Fat Choy!!!

Enjoy this day since it's declared a Special Non-working Holiday in the Philippines.

(4) February 20: HANDCUFF DAY

Before you think of anything naughty (geee thanks Fifty Shades of Gray, haha!), Handcuff day is really a legitimate day celebrated in the States. It dates back 1912 when George A. Carney gained patent to his revolutionary design for the handcuff. As an important tool for law enforcement, people deemed it necessary to have a National Day in America.

(5) February 22: WORLD THINKING DAY

Thank you Girls scouts for this day! "World Thinking Day is a day of friendship, advocacy and fundraising for 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world." Though this may not be as significant to others compared to those who have been and are Girl scouts, we can learn a thing or two from why this came about. Generally, it is a day of giving thanks and giving back to the community. Click here to learn more about this day.

(6) February 25: PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION

This day is the anniversary of that bloodless revolution that united the Filipino people.During this time, the true power of Democracy was demonstrated.

This may not be a non-working holiday like in some years but this day is worth observing and remembering.

(7) February 26: TELL A FAIRY TALE DAY

This day is all about revisiting our childhood:  reading, sharing, and telling a fairy tale. It may not have a historical account for its origins but it certainly is one magical day to just have fun and spread fairy dust all around.

(8) February 28: TOOTH FAIRY DAY

For those who had too much sweets from Valentines, pencil in this day as you might get a cool visit or surprise from the tooth fairy.

Before we start the new month, we're writing to say a quick thanks to everyone who made our 2014 a good one. We had fun on our start off year and we're excited to do more and share more awesome stuff this new year.

We worked with super cool people last year and we'd like to thank them for all that they've done for Hey Holiday :)

MISTY FLORO AND PAI EDLES OF MORFOSIS: Thank you guys for helping us start this. At first, we thought Hey Holiday was just a cool name. After you did our logo and branding, we became convinced that we are bound for great things with this idea.

CELINE TRINIDAD: This lovely lady is our key to our fun accessory line. Thank you for sharing you talent and resources with us.

MARIANNE MENCIAS:  Our good friend and author of the best seller "WHAT'S YOUR LIFE'S MASTERPIECE" ignited our passion and pushed us to go for this dream. Hey Holiday will always be a product of your work and mission and that is to create a masterpiece from the things you love most.

MARTINE DE LUNA: We were really inspired when she awarded one of our photos during on of her Make it Blissful photo contests. Since then, we looked up to her even if we never met her in person. To Martine, as we post this entry, we'd like to thank you for all the blissful inspirations. Congratulations with the Baby and we hope to finally work and meet you this year  :)

And now we say hello to love month, We'd like to say that we'd be sharing more holiday events and ideas. We recently did a photo shoot with several creative friends and we're excited to showcase what we've done. Anyway, the photo here is a teaser of the fun holiday shoot we just had.

....11 more holidays to go! Cheers!

#heyilovethisholiday HUG DAY (The Pope Hugs the Filipino People)

January 21 is International Hug day or Hugging day; a holiday that originates from America. Though it's not (yet) a Filipino Holiday, I still think this is worth celebrating. It was said that this holiday was created to encourage the act of hugging families and friends. A simple hug can bring enormous effects to one's being not to mention reduce stress and promote positivity.

For the past 5 days, our country was indeed hugged by someone so great and inspiring. January 15-19, 2015 was the Papal Visit to the Philippines. To me, He came at the right time. Our nation truly needs this moral boost amidst all challenges. Moreover, He came at the start of the year thus providing the necessary guidance to create positive changes for the new year.

We learned so much from the Pope's visit and the best way to express our gratitude to Him is by living out the lessons he imparted to us. I think one of the best ways to do this is to...Hug and be hugged.

Share the love and the faith through warm hugs. Collapse that solid wall of pride and fear and have someone hug you. Cry if you need to cry and let all emotions out. Those few seconds of physical contact will surprise you. Maybe in those few seconds, God can finally give you the message and the comfort you are asking and praying for.

Thank you Pope Francis for gracing us with your amazing presence. We are grateful for your time, your strength, your wisdom, and your love. We truly felt God in your presence! Your 5 days is indeed a good warm bear hug for all of us. Maraming Salamat po!

#heyilovethisholiday DRESS UP YOUR PET DAY

Source: The Southern

Who would have thought that January 14 is Dress up your Pet Day. It's an unknown holiday especially here in the Philippines but it certainly is a fun event to celebrate. It was founded by Colleen Paige, also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day.

Upon doing my online research about this fun holiday, I was able to check out Petmd's post. They came up with their Top 10 reasons to dress up your Pet. I agree with their top reason... it's an excellent day to have a Pictorial!!!

Anyway, I'd like to share some of favorite Dressed up Pet photos. I'm sure you'll be laughing and gushing over their cuteness!
